All those are small problems, that are anoying, and end up costing some good $$$ if you have to get it fixed all the time.

As to the Ford needing a rear end, that is hardly surprising at 400K, and being used mainly for towing 2.5 tons on daily basis! Other then that, not a single problem for the 30K i owned it!
My point exactly, its the little things that people are bitching about. Hardly something to cry about if your rear window doesn't work. If your car had crank windows you wouldn't have a problem.
For the record, my friend had a civic(00or 01) and his crank window wasnt working and was falling off the rail because the plastic rail or something was broken. It could happen.

Anyway, cars are an expense anyway you look at it. You never get ahead.

This said, i cant stand how "cheap" most Japanese cars feel...including luxury brands, even E30's have better feel to them! But i guess A to B, that doesnt matter....
Phil I agree with you 100% Comparing my 86 325e to my 99 civic si, theres no comparison I did have to do a lot of work on my e30 as it did have 443k when i bought it, but the car was more solid, better insulated and had that luxury/sport feel to it. Just closing a door on a honda and youll notice its a tin can. But buying a early 90s european car these days is just asking for problems.

The brand new 4runner will cost you the same like 3.0L X5. The used ones cost more than bimmers. As soon as X5s go out of warranty, they are worth nothing considering how much you paid. Chain driven timing, and other goodies on 4 runner. Let alone that the car is Made in Japan. X5 is made in the Usa. Take X5 3L off road , it will fall a part.
All women drive X5s. In reality, it's just German pile of junk that is worthless, worn leather and rusty metal after 10 years.

The computer on wheels can also be a 2001 745i. I can just imagine how much it would be to fix I-drive on that thing. Even if you have the cash, I doubt if GTA bmw dealers can really fix that mosnter in a proper way. That car will leave nothing but a grief on you.
lol heheh

At some point its all the small things that matter! Like my Grand Cherokee, the driveline was rock solid, the V8 and 4x4 was great, but the electrical was a nightmare!!! The truck was running, but nothing else was working on it, and after dumping a few G's on it (because i needed it strictly for work) i just gave up on it...
