Mtech II Seat badges!

Hey folks,

My car is imported and has the Mtech II package on it. I have the cloth interior and tomorrow i am buying leather seats for the car. What i need to know how easy it is to swap the /// seat badges onto the new leather seats

Has anyone got any information on this?
Is it actually as easy as pushing them in? wouldn't they fall out?

Here is an ebay link to the part.

Take the back plastic cover off the back of the seat. Take the old ones out if you have them. All you have to do is measure the correct distance down from the top of the seat and push the seat badges through the seat and bend the tabs towards the middle of the seat from the back. Make sure you apply the same pressure to both seats before you bend the aluminun tabs inwards. Easy job to do. Ted

AH!

So those little metal pins bend sideways to hold the emblems on?

That makes more sense. Thanks a lot!

I've got those on all four of my seats but never bent the tabs... They've never budged.

Hmm.. i think the tabs allow you to push in the emblem further, so they are kind of indented into the seat.

yeah, mine kind of make a dimple into the seat... I wouldn't worry about taking the seat back off to bend them, they stay in place fine.

Understood.

Although, i will most likely have to take them off in order to get the emblems off the original seats.

Hey, nice seats! I had those in my 318is

Yeah, I guess to safely remove them, you should remove the back. Do you have them in the back seat too.

Thanks, I just put in rear headrests a few weeks ago. The drivers seat has a rip on the side bolster, but don't tell anyone!

I have the same back seat with no headrests. im swapping that into my new car, putting emblems on it, and putting real leather in the front, and adding emblems.

Think that will look ok?

Well, it's tough to say. Some of the real leather seats have the verticle seams that go deep into the seats... I know that in the back seats on the leather, the badges look like they're floating... leaving gaps over the seams. Personally, I like the perforated vinyl better than the leather, but then again, if the leather is in good shape, it'll probably look good. Why are you putting leather with vinyl? Heated?

ah, I see. I'm sure one will come along some time... See if you can find one with a ski pass.
