just a few E30 inquiries.

Hey folks.

My ignition leads are toast...and i'm starting to have a sure feeling that is the cause of my terrible nasty v12 on cotten ball motor mount vibration.

these plugs dont even sit over the spark plugs tightly...so, i am asking are there any other alternatives then OEM? if i am going to change it, i am going to do it "better" than stock, if that is possible.

and

motor swaps.
i listed my car for 5k$ the other day to get a feel....and i had a lot of interest. i even had someone email me and say they want the car shipped to them in virginia!!! do you guys think swapping motors would depreciate the value of an e30? or would keeping an m20 in make the car hold what ever value it has.

i would presume the motor swap done by a professional rather than myself would help....and i also have a crazy thought that even if done correctly, the swap performed by i and i would make an e30 sell for less.

after the autocross on sunday, i was suprised that i even considered selling my e30..........lol. i want to keep it for a little longer now!
m52 is the plan! but if all fails m50 it is...

thanks!!

-Rob

I've thought of this same question before.... you'd think some people would find more value in one, some would find more value in the other..... but as a general rule, is a car more valuble with a more powerful swap? Or does that knock its value down?

an m50/2 will gain some value but it more depends on the car and the condition, a beat car with an m50/2 is still not worth much.

Put in an s50 or s52 if you want to keep the value of the e30 up.

LOL ^^

Anyway, I got Kingslake (or something like that) wires a few years ago. The wire is great, the connectors are shit. I broke the coil connector pulling it off this summer. They were cheap though, $140 for 8mm with the position sensor wire.

Good to know... I've been turning this idea over and over in my head. I've got a very clean shell, and a good rebuilt M20, but it's out of tune and I'm getting pissed off trying to get the megasquirt running properly. I'm at the point where I'd rather just pull it all out, drop an M50 in it, and sell the rebuilt M20 and the megasquirt to cover a little bit of the cost.

If it holds/raises the value, then it's win/win for me, because I'll also get a power boost.

Re-reading this, I think I'm hearing that motor swap is being considered to avoid basic maintenance.

HA yeah the s52-in-progress is looking a lot better than my 26-year-old m10 right now

M10's don't count. They weren't that great to begin with.

Adam, what is wrong with going back to regular Motronic and ditching MS?
