can a 325i diff be put in a 328i with no modifications?

Yes. You might run into an issue with the input flange being different (6 bolt vs 4 bolt), but that can be swapped.

as far as i know it should work, but as stated before by ScotcH, the flange may have to be swapped.

All the 328 autos I have seen are 4 bolt, like the 325 BUT you have to swap output flanges (larger axles)

All output flanges are the same, Fil. Only the M3 is larger.

318/320 are smaller then 325/328! I forgot the 325/328 are the same since most people switch from 318 to 325/328 and have to upgrade flanges/axles!...

318/320=80mm
325/328=86mm
M3=94mm
