Its not a good time to sell though (winter/Christmas approaching, etc)
But its fine, I'm not in hurry to sell. I barely drive the car in winter anyway.
By the way, I went to see the 540i you mentioned (the one that needs a clutch)
That car needs 8000 in repairs! Rust under front doors, big dent on sailpanel/roof, misfiring, clutch kit+ possibly flywheel depending how bad it is, airbag light on, and the list goes on,,!
I'd only pay $5000 for that car.

That's what I told him. It needs way more than what he thinks. The code list is a mile long...
If it's still there, go see the 6 spd at MTC auto in the market. It's in decent shape. Lots of little rust spots but it's an 01 with all the goodies. Needs a MAF I think but still a good car.
BTW, I got 36MPG on the highway this weekend. :Woot:

$14000?
I love that color! But if it has lots of rust spots, then body shop would have to blend the color into adjacent panels (depending where the spots are), this means the bill would add up fast.
I'm kind of iffy about buying a car from a dealership. I'd have to pay full taxes, and they do not know the history of the car.
I've seen lots of clean 2001-2002 530i around Toronto, from $10000-$12000, (120-170kms). I'll also get a 538i as long as its clean and well maintained.
I'd have to sell the E36 first though, then a plane ticket to Toronto with my brother to puck up the E39!
ps: 36MPG? Not bad at all!
What about city driving?

Don't test drive a 540i if you're thinking about a 530i...
City is usually 20MPG-ish. Depends on my mood.
If you're going to TO, you should go to Legend Motor cars. I kind of regret not going to check out that one. It's priced a little higher but they've been sitting on it for a while.

What's the situation with the HST? Will all consumers pay the same tax then, regardless of private or dealer sale? That will really kill the private sale market if so.

Link to Legend Motor cars ?
20 MPG is not that bad at all. I'll get a 540 only if I get a really good deal on it.

The proposed changes would take effect July 1, 2010. The HST @ 13% would replace the GST @ 5%. Since you pay only provincial taxes on a used car, I don't see how they are going to separate them, so you'll pay 13% I assume. There is very little good info on the web about it.
You will pay on new houses (with rebates on houses less than ~$500K) and groceries, books, a bunch of other shit.
Businesses can claim back the HST instead of just GST (but don't they claim the PST separately) so they say businesses will have more rebates.
Just a ****ing tax increase. Call a spade a spade.

lemc.ca go to showroom and look for the black 540i.
The one in the market is down to 12.9k...at that price, it's almost worth it!
I'm not sur ehow the HST is going to affect used cars but I'm sure they'll just tax that too. The tax increase on a new house is going to put them out of reach for many. Shame. Bring down GST, add more in another way...lovely.
If you want a good deal, contact old school, his sounds amazing and the price is right considering he has all the records and ridiculously low mileage.

That's the place. Just remember, sometimes bad dealers sell good cars...that car was previously at Capital Dodge in Kanata for 17k, local trade. I talked to them about the car at length and he was confident about the car and had no problems sending me to my mechanic to get it checked over. I started it and looked it over, aside from the few rust spots and being dirty, it's not a bad car. If it keeps dropping or you're pretty good at negotiating, it's a much better deal than the black fixer upper...
I don't know if the black 98 540i/6 is stil for sale but that one was a good buy too. It had M5 rims, style 5's for winter. Dude that owns it is a mechanic.
Yeah, I looked at a few in the city before buying mine.

On topic, anybody looking for a non sport pack 93 325is 5 speed? CHEAP, like could be a parts car cheap. If you have time to part out or have the time and inclination, it could be a good deal.
My buddy needs to get rid of his and no, it's not my old one...
