E36 E46 Offset the same?

I see alot of 18 and 19 inch x 8.5 wheels advertised with an et of +35 claiming to fit both E36 and E46.

From the info I have been able to find it looks like that will work fine on an E46 but questionable on E36.

Will 8.5 +35 fit on an E36 with zero to 1.5 inch drop without rubbing or having to roll the fenders?
