damn deer

So I am driving to work this morning at 5:30 and it is still pitch dark and living outside the city there are no lights on the highway till i reach the city limits. So im driving at 130 km/h which i normally do at this time of the day with my high beams on. now i am on a divided two lane highway and am reaching a slower moving car so I turn off my high beams not to bother the other driver. just as I am about to pass the other car out of no where I see a dead deer laying on its stomach right in the middle of my lane maybe 5 or 6 meters ahead. I couldn't swerve to the right lane cuz of the car beside me and to my left is a ditch that would surely flip my car if i went into it. By the time I take my foot off the gas to reach the brake pedal it was too late and I hit the damn thing at full speed of 130 k. I went airborne for probably half a meter and slammed to the ground. I pulled over right away to check the damage which luckily was minimal. some paint chipped off my front bumper but the smell of burnt blood and flesh and guts that were all over my car were the worse things. I have since washed the car twice and it still smells like shit. I am just happy I wasn't riding the bike because I very well may have not been here to tell you the story.

ya thats ****ed. the problem with deers too around the out city limits is that i dont believe youre allowed to hunt them. only certain areas.. so they are just a pest taht need to be exterminated.

not necessary pest but just dumb animals. I swear I have come across 4 deers so far on the roads and except this morning I always see them on the side of the road just chilling and as soon as a car approaches they make a run for it across the road. I saw one the other day that made a run for it, realized cant make it so it tried to stop but instead it slid and hit the side of the car in front of me. it walked away though.

why don't you purchase one of those deer whistle gadgets that stick onto your bumper, produces a high pitch sound that's not audible to the human ear.

though a dead deer on the road won't help with the whistle, but if youring seeing live deer on the side of highway everyday, definitly come in handy to prevent further damage,

Ya man, that really sucks! those whistle things are good i guess.

I hit one once on my way to a cottage at night. I had my parents intrepid at the time i was 16. Wasn't to bad, hit it at about 80km, it just skimmed the front left fender a bit and ran off... still enough damage. Fender, paint..

It could've been worse man! good luck with everything!

Your blaming the deer??? If you were doing the speed limit you would have had time to react.
