+1... that's a Quebec car, they have a 70% front window limit, if I remember correctly...

Unfortunately I'm going to have to agree. I think Type 2's even Type 3's look a lot better on e36's.

Don't get me wrong though your car is still erectionally hot.

any tint film on the front windows are illegal, usually cops wont bug you if its light tint. When i talked to the guys that run the tint test they said if your windows are dirty it wont pass.

Now you got me looking into this....

I've found several sources that say 70% for Quebec.

This is right from the provincial website:
http://www.saaq.qc.ca/en/miscellany/tinting/index.php

No tint at all is allowed on the front for Alberta, BC, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, or Saskatchewan.

Nova Scotia doesn't allow any tint period, even on rear windows.

Ontario and Newfoundland don't specify a legal limit, and are left to the discretion of those enforcing it. Like mentioned in another thread, as long as there is visibility and a cop can see you, it's "okay".

Manitoba has a 45% limit on front windows, and are the only province to specify rear tinting limits... 30% for back windows and 35% on rear windshield.

One key difference that Manitoba and Quebec have is that they measure the net level of light penetration, not jsut the level on the film itself. Basically, if the glass is a bit dark and you put 70% on, then combined they would bring the percentage down, making it illegal. This might be why dirt on the glass will fail you, because if the glass is dirty, it will block light and bring you into an illegal zone.

Interesting stuff. I guess Ontario and the Newfs have it the best overall.

Stock windows let about 80% I think. I have the test results somewhere at home, Ill post the results from an e36 with clean windows.

Before the test,I had 32% tint on my windows and I had to remove it because it was "too dark" the guys at the SAAQ inspection said they could see clearly into the car but the machine test would fail. I was barely legal (according to the machine) with no tint.

I've seen people go around with 20% all around and not harassed by cops. Ontario has it good :p
