Looks like no more Greek airline in Toronto-Pearson
The reports keep saying since September 30th, Olympic known as Greek carrier will suspend its services from Toronto Pearson. They were the only airline from the Balkans that could fetch direct flights to Usa and Canada.
I guess the economic meltdown had something to do with it. All in all they were here for 40 years. So for all Greeks from Toronto, they would have to connect somewhere in Europe on their way to Athens. So whoever had a chance to go, I guess that was it. RIP

That sucks.
On the other hand, Turkish Airlines now a direct flight to Turkey. I'm surprised that the Greek airline went down, I thought there would be more demand for that then Turkey.

Yeah I know. Those Turks got something up their sleeve. Toronto is a baby mouse for Turkish when you look at their Asian destinations and , a new feet or A330/B777-300.

Yeah, I mean I'm not complaining. My family is from North (turk) Cyprus and I was getting pretty tired of the:
Toronto>chicago>turkey>cyprus
or the
Toronto>amsterdam>cyprus
I feel for the Greeks though now that they don't have direct, those trips are tiring.

^No. The last time AC was there was like in 1990. They just jumped on , but it is seasonal from June next year. Air Transat is a seasonal service as well. All year around, they would need to Connect. Just in NYC they got Delta all year around. Continental and United as well I think.

Olympic was recently bought by Marfin Group so it is now a private company. They will change everything including destinations. i know this because both my brother and sister work for Marfin. It has nothing to do with the current situation as Olympic was barely as profitable as it should be for many years.

^ I think so. You said it very fairly. Than again it is leisure destination for ATH. I wonder if there was any corporate travel at all. On top of all that A340-3 is hardcore gas guzzler. It was just matter of time before everything was to colapse. Props to local Greeks that were able to hold until now.
