e36 Radio Code (US)

So since my car is a US car, it came with a US radio that I wanna try to get working. It's not the original deck to the car so I had to get the serial off the deck itself.

I gave all the info the the Dealership (hw.7 & kenndy), They apparently looked into it and weren't able to help. Told me a should call a US dealer. Would a dealer actually give me the code over the phone? Anyone done this?

I'm starting to think using this deck isn't worth the hassle.
