Just being smug, cause my 20's w/ 25 series (elastic band) profile have just survived their 2nd year on our streets.
I like your choice in rims.....I've also got Y-fork style rims on both of my cars...though I do prefer some lip.

They must not be made of Jell-O like my Style 230s!

There is nothing wrong with the material the Style 230s are made from. Every rim that has such a long distance between spokes is going to have the same issue. Not only are you on elastic bands, there are fewer spokes to absorb your hard driving, so the stress of your admittedly hard driving gets passed into the rim. If you're going to drive hard, never choose a 5 spoke for a large rim.

LOL! that was cute.
I suppose that's why BMW...
(a) discontinued the rim on all 2009 models,
(b) is dealing with THOUSANDS of lawsuits regarding the integrity of these rims
(c) employees have told me that this is a recurring and never ending issue and that the rims are undoubtably crap
and how about the 5-spoke airy M6 wheels? they don't have any issues...
and you can't tell me that ALL of these rims are cracking because owners drive their cars 'too hard'... that's ****ing ridiculous.
It's a 300+ hp machine... It's not MEANT to be driven like a mommy-mobile.

(a) didn't all 3 series rims get changed for '09?
(b) I don't doubt this. North America is a very litigious society (esp the US) where everyone sues everyone for anything and refuses to accept personal responsibility for anything (ie. hot McDonald's coffee spilled onto someone's lap burning them, or a guy pissed onto the subway tracks in NY, died of electricution because current ran up his piss stream and killed him. His widow successfully sued for negligence because there were no signs saying not to piss on the tracks)
(c) possible, but their opinions are speculation and hearsay.
I'm not saying you're wrong. Perhaps they are flawed in some way, but don't tell me that you won't even accept 0.01% responsibility because of your heavy foot

I'm pretty sure she doesn't see a pothole and flies into it as fast as possible.
It's just a bad combination of soft wheels and incredibly shitty GTA roads. The RFTs probably didn't help either. Hell, with my CSLs on my E36 and MVR (which are KNOWN to be soft and weak) 5 spoke 19s on my E46, I did my best to avoid potholes and rough pavement and I drive extremely hard. Guess what? Even with some brutal hits those didn't bend or crack. It's pretty obvious that there is something at play here in the construction of the wheels.
edit: your retort to point b) was ****ing hilarious (and I don't mean that in a good way).

I drive my stock 18" M-Pars on a 35 profile winter tire.
Eventhough my car is heavier, my spokes are skinnier and about the same distance appart as the style 230, my rims are still true.
