Cylinder 1 Misfire on E46....

Hey guys, my gf's car started to slightly 'wobble/shake' when its turned on yesterday. I bought a OBD2 scanner and tested the car and got the code:

P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected.

Now, I'm guessing the cheapest option for this repair might be getting a new spark plug and testing it that way, but is there any way I can find out if the coil is bad or not?

Also, Cylinder 1, is that the closest one to the front of the engine...beside the water pump?

thank you
bart

Move coil #1 to a different cylinder and see if the code changes...
Cylinder #1 is at the front of the engine by the water pump.

Thank you for the help.
I figured this out a few days after making the thread, I moved the coil to a different cylinder and the same thing was happening so I replaced the coil and the car drives and runs great!
