lol .. has nothing to do with the video cards .. nforce is the motherboard based chips. Do some more reading .. yes I agree those motherboard chipsets have had problems. I also run an 8800GT and have no flaws.

anybody recommend some stores around GTA where i can pick up parts at great prices?

I only know of Canada computers and Tiger direct, anymore places with reputatable parts and low prices?

Question: Should i stay with original build or should i scrap that and go quad with a q9550 chip?

shopbot.ca

Although I've found that just waiting for CC sales is often the best deal because they are close to me (less time and gas).

I actually just swapped my Q8200 with a Q9550 today. The 9550 has VT which may come in handy if you are running Windows 7.

Pretty decent chip. Tiger Direct has it for 259.99, although the Q8200 is on sale for 189.99 at Canada Computers.

Use it for a little bit of everything, gaming, coding, photoshop/lightroom. However it's mostly for SSH/VPN/Terminal Server connections. So way overkill most of the time. I am just impatient

I'm saying they are separate issues, I understand the difference between a GPU and a northbridge.

The original 8800 GTS has a lot of known issues, and the newer 8800's had a lot of RMA's. I'm not saying everyone did. As you say, you've had no issues.

I really don't care what card people run...just giving my $0.02

Yes and no.

Some people thing that the cost/benefit that comes with a i7 isn't worth it, but it depends on how you use it I guess.

The Core i7 is the successor to the Core 2 line of Intel processors. The i7 is actually a quad-core design itself, so it's not better than a quad-core because it is one.... but the i7 architecture is faster than the previous generation, so you do get better performance out of it. Like I said though, the gains in performance and jump in price don't exactly line up and it might be wiser to go with a Core 2 processor of some sort unless you are going for the ultimate rig.

lol thats awesome. If you had a pizza box that would be like a 1U blade server

thermaltake

Antec

its all personal choose and how crazy you want to get with it. I like my case its all metal and has easy access to drives and pci cards (no unscrewing just snap in and out) makes getting inside the case whenever you need easy. If I were to look for a case I would look for easy access, nice look, fan placement and amount it takes.
