oil filter assembly

Just put the oil filter assembly with the oil cooler rad. from 325i into M20 2,3l

It seem to fit only if the oil filter is horizontal and under the exhaust headers.

Not looking OK, it's nearly impossible to reach unless taking off the assbly.
Plus it's strange that the filter ends up in the hottest place in the car and
the purpose of the assbly is to cool down the oil.

Any pics of the assbly in place ??

You have it on in the right way, the filter does sit under the exhaust manifold and if a little odd to get to. I did see on here a picture of someone that made a adapter and the filter sat up and down but not sure where I saw it, maybe under the FI section.

yup, that's correct. doesn't matter that it's close to the exhaust. How hot do you think the oil is when the car is running at operating temperature. Sure the cooler is there to help cool the engine but not to the degree that it is going to make such a difference. not recommended to do an oil change while engine is really hot anyway. might get burned from the exhaust if doing it from above. That's just the way the M20 engine was designed.:-)
