e36 problem

Hi People just wondering if you guys can help me out about my friends car problem. 1992 e36 automatic.The car runs fine on first gear then second and it happens that when you steping on the gas it revs up and you can see the needle hitting 4000 rpm or so without the car moving any faster, then i let go on the gas and step on it again and it seems to kick on trird gear and so on.we just want to find out what causing this problem, so if anyone experience or know this problem and you can let me know what causes this that would be a big help........

Replace oil in the transmission and if it doesn't help you will end up looking for a used tranny or rebuilding it.

e36 problem

ok we try the first step if its fail then we're going for the second.... got replacement tranny on hand do you install tranny? and how much im looking for the install?

try first step and it should help atleast for awhile.
auto trans is $250 and I have in stock.
install is done by a shop 2 doors down from mine for about $350.00

That is a hell of a deal! I paid $350 for a used auto tranny for a P.O.S. dodge colt.

Dj_Aquarius, Even if you change the fluid and it lasts for a while, who knows how long it will last. When it does let go the tow is going to be more than 10% of the tranny replacement cost. (and you never break down when you have no where to go and the time to deal with it - murphy's law)

Just jump on that deal and save yourself a heap of hassle.

i got a tranny on hand now just want to get a quote how much for installation. or i might install my self.......
