cheap place to stay in montreal?
Any cheap places to spend the night in montreal? I'm going for 3 days for Osheaga 2009, not looking to spend more than $80/night for 2 ppl. don't care about the condition of the place, just as long as it's safe to sleep. any ideas?

for $80 you'll be looking at places right by the airport, even if you prebook for one in Montreal it would still cost over $90+tx & parking, without prebooking it would be atleast $145+, check out Hotels.ca for better prices

Was actually there last week for the just for laughs festival.
I stayed at the Radisson in Laval (15 min drive to downtown) $90/night free parking, internet & pool. It wasn’t too bad.
Booked it through hotels.ca

Use Priceline.com
I stayed in downtown Montreal at a Delta hotel(Delta Centre-Ville) for $60USD/night.
If you haven't used priceline before, be warned, you have to pay upfront and you don't know which hotel or if any will accept your bid.
All you do is choose a region, like downtown montreal etc, they show you on a map where it could be. and you could be booked at any hotel within that region. You do not get to choose/accept the hotel you are automatically booked there.
You choose the location, star rating and a few other restrictions, but other than that they can book you at any hotel they have agreements with. or your bid is declined, then you just increase your bid.

I stayed at this place called Casa de Mateo in old Montreal on Saint Francois-Xavier. Its a hostel (auberge) and rates are depending on the bed size you get but its cheap. i've posted a link to the room prices. I think it also comes with breakfast.

Hilton Garden Inn closer to the airport is nice for a good price, book online to get best rates. Not too far from downtown.

priceline ftw.
I stayed at the intercontinental downtown toronto for 80$ a night, hilton for 91$ a night, and countless hotels around the airport for 50-70$ a night.
prices are USD.

for those of you that have used priceline before, how long does it take to be notified if your bid is rejected? or is it instantaneous?
Also, what kind of bid would you recommend placing for a 4 star in downtown mtl? it says the median price is like 185 i think

It tells you after a few seconds. You know pretty much right away if you get declined.
