I had the exact same problem, wound up having to take it to my mechanic. I tried heat, pipe wrench (both good ideas, but didn't work for me), vice grips, channel locks, and swearing. Even at the mechanics, it wouldn't come off without (most likely) damaging the manifold, so we left it. Now I'm either looking at replacing the whole manifold, or just that section of pipe, getting the same from a donor car, having a shop flare the pipe on both ends, and then strapping it...

Have them bore a new hole and weld a new bung in beside the old one and call it a day.
