Having a car shipped to you from the U.S.

Need some info,

I found a bmw in the u.s. that im looking to purchase privately, the seller is willing to have the car shipped to me, after i have the car inspected etc. Now he said he can ship the car to me, my question is, if he is shipping to me, does this mean that he needs to do all the required paper work to have the vehicle cross the border and be delivered to my home?? what am i responsible for, what is the seller responsible for?

info will be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance
