Would like some help on DSLR camera.

I am looking to pick up D40X to mess around. Here is my question.

I am curious to know how much of a difference would it make when you compare regular D40/stock lense and 18-135mm? Nikon DX. AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm lens is the stock one that comes with it if I am not mistaken.

Or what would be a decent lense for Nikon D40x to call it better upgrade.

It wold be sweet if you have an images to compare 18-135 vs 15-55 or anything you got.

18-55 is a remarkably good lens for the money. The only thing I didn't like about it is the reach. I went for an 18-135 as my first lens. CAREFUL!! NAS will get you!! (NAS = Nikon Aquisition Syndrome)

I now have a D80, 18-135mm, 80-200mm 2.8, 20mm 2.8, 50 mm 1.8, 60 mm 2.8 micro, 35-70mm, SB600 flash, MB-D80 grip, tripod (nothing special there), Black rapid strap - and that's all I can remember at the moment!!!

Start with the kit lens, when you've found that you've outgrown that lens and need more zoom go for the 18-135. The quality if the pictures are close enough to bearly see a diiference, so the only real difference is you can zoom in more.

So basically if you suck at taking pictures with the 18-55, you will still suck with the 18-135.

What's your price difference for getting the 18-55 vs the 18-135?

18-55 is a good lens to have in your arsenal, assuming the price you get justifies it.
