MTO + PVT (Personal Vehicle Tax) = Me less another $60
So I just renewed my plate stickers for 2 years at a ServiceOntario kiosk. No problem, $75 for one year or $150 for two. I opt for the 2 years. After a few minutes of touch-screen typing, I arrive at the totals screen and, lo and behold, there it is! The $60 personal vehicle tax (PVT) that I've subtlely heard about. $60 every year, on top of the $74 renewal fee and the $1 processing fee. For us math whizzes, that's $135 per year and $270 every two years now.

Wow, $60 on top of $74 is an 81% admin charge. Yay. That is all.

So we're going to bend over even more. That's it. Anybody wants to protest this? I'm writing to the Star.

Sorry that dont apply to me. I work in Milton. Total commute: 4km/daily.
I'd rather drive to Toronto on Saturdays to run my errands when there's no traffic and stay away from the fees, noise and crime. PS: anyone pick up the garbage in Toronto today?

But see? This is what I was thinking. I recall hearing about this additional charge here & there while people simply started paying it without much dispute. Part of it is because we're not all renewing our plates at the same time, otherwise all of us would be collectively questioning just exactly what we're paying for.
That said, I'd personally like to know the logic behind an 81% agent/collection/admin fee.

This is retarded, most of the congestion on toronto highways is from people who live outside of the GTA and commute. Make those ****ers pay up a-la-london, dont just make people pay more cause they live in toronto and david miller, our mayor, loves fondling his anal cavity with steel wool cause he's a douchebag
