car wash wreck

so i was in toronto yesterday (dont live there)... decided to take my car through one of those drive through car wash bays with the rollers...

the attendant demanded he put the car on the rails for me... long story short he cranked the wheel to far to the right and ended up coming off the rails, ripped off the drivers side portion of the front bumper... all the platic under wheel well, lower lip etc etc...

naturally i freaked out... they said my car was too low.. but **** thats not my problem, they shouldnt have tried to put it on..

said they would go through insurance... got a quote this morning for a thousand dollars... should i care at all if i feel the collision shop is ripping off the car wash company?

pretty boring without pics.. i'll take pics at lunch.

so they are basically repairing the bumper and not replacing it? even repairing plus paint
it wil cost more than a thousand.

I would go to another shop to get a 2nd opinion.

well the bumper is still okay.. its all the plastic peices underneith plus the inner fender lining etc..

If the bumper is not broken or torn and only needs scuffing and paint then no new bumper is really needed. That's the discretion of the ins adjuster. Plastic fillers will be changed no doubt. As for liability. Car wash guy should have known better. Not to say it wouldn't have been damaged but he didn't align it properly. Secondly, now you have experienced perhaps what NOT to do if you consider doing it that way again. Happened to me with a regular car. My spoke hubs were damaged as it went through - got a book of executive washes for my trouble. :-)

those car washes murder your paint anyway. Let this be a lesson and take the time to hand wash from now on!

I say let them pay for it.. they should of not allowed the car to go through if it was too low.. he took the chance...

have them fix the car back to the way it was before you went to the car wash

and stop going to those damn car washes lol...soap, bucket and spunge bro.

lol thanks guys... ya i know i always wash it myself... figured i was out of the city so i took my chances
