Replacing water pump and thermostat on E39
I need to replace the water pump and thermostat on my '03 525iT. I found the following brands.
[Thermostat]
1. Wahler
2. Behr
[Water pump]
1. Geba
2. Graf
Any experience / advice on these brands? Thanks.

My engine is quite abit different different from yours, but here is what I used for my cooling system rebuild.
Thermostat: Behr
Water Pump: Graf ( the important thing is that you a the water pump with a metal impeller)

The rad, fan and fan clutch were new, so I got the water pump, thermosta and hoses replaced within the first 2 weeks of owning the car. I bought all the parts from Pelican Parts in the US and had Steve a Bavarian install all the parts and pressure test the system. It is important to note that not all mechanics will want to do the work if you bring cheap parts. Doing it this way saved $$ for the parts but more important to me I had a choice to install the best parts that I could find. The only thing that I didn't buy was the coolant.
I just completed doing the valley pan replacement on my V8 so now the entire cooling system except the heater system has been done.

Well What kind of mileage can I expect with a re manufactured water pump?
Any ideas?
And where can I get a new one for less than $200.00?
Thanks,
Dave

Last year I replaced the rad, thermostat, water pump & vanos seals.
I get my parts from autopartsway.ca or bimmerspecialst.ca
The current price of the water pump is now $90 - $100.

Yes, you can get one for around $100, please don't tell me you paid that much for that re-man crap.

This is the one that's in my car, over 2 years now.
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...9%2C%20Each%20
It's made by Gaff with metal impellar. Right now the exchange rate is great, buy it online, you could take advantage of the free shipping by sending it to Can-Am mailbox, then make a parts run and pick it up, and whatever else you ordered.
I recommend that you pick up the thermostat as well.
