what just fell off????

i have an e39 touring, two things happened recently and i am curious if these two are related.

1. under the front right corner, below the fog lights, i noticed wires that look like it had been ripped/sheared off. i say shear because something was attached to it, what was attached is not there anymore, as there are scrape marks on the wire where the mysterious thing detached

2. my OBC is registering below normal temperatures, for example, mid-afternoon, after the car's been sitting outside, it displays 0 Celsius. today's temp reached 18 celsius.


was it my thermometer that ripped off?

Quite possible. Outside temperature sensor is mounted at the bottom of the bumper just below the passenger fog light. Maybe you or the previous owner hit or scraped a curb and disconnected/ripped wires. Mine is disconnected as well.

that must;ve been it. the temperature fluctuates between -5 to 0 celsius.
