You don't really provide enough info. Which model m3 or m5 engine? That said, the s14, or s50 would be an easier swap (m3 engines) than the larger s38 e34 m5 engine (assuming this is the one you would use, not the newer s62 v8's)

You need to do some reading. An open question like this won't get you many sensible answers. Once you know more about what you want to do, how much it will cost and are serious about it you will get better response to more detailed questions.

If an S52 was a lot of trouble for you, stay away from BMW M engines.

the origional E30 M3 motor is the best swap for an E30, very pricey motor though

S38 is an extremely expensive engine to purchase as well as make it work and maintain it. Might want to stick with something a little simpler and less finicky, like the m50 or S50.

Guys, he already had an S52, and he had a lot of headaches. So my recommendation is to buy a Corolla.

justin throw a Euro S52 in that bitch and your set!!! or just stick to a US s52. They are a lot easier to maintain and find parts for. It's much harder/expensive to pull off a M5 swap from any generation! although it would be sick as hell!

He had problems because the guys he took it to knew nothing about BMW's. for ****s sake they hardwired his motor to the harness! Make sure your new e30 never see's its way into that shop again man! Give RMP a call they are a lot closer now and will have it done properly!

You already had the cheapest bang for buck swapped e30, and you complained that you couldn't afford it. Try a stock*gasp* e30, it won't bite.

By 'hardwired', I am betting it was a Motronix swap.
