GTA: Are self car washes okay?

We recently moved to the GTA and were wondering if we could wash our car in our laneway. I know about not blocking the laneway but are there any laws regarding water drain off for car washes?

I know scarborough was going to implement some car washing law. But as far as I'm concerned, you're OK to wash your car still.

I was reading about this a while ago and apparently there IS a law that prevents Toronto residents from washing their car in their driveway but nobody has been formally 'ticketed' for it. I think it's more on a 'complaint basis' so just don't piss off any of your well informed neighbours...

Toronto Water has regulations regarding what substances go into the Storm drains, since this water is not processes and simply get passed into the lakes and creeks. As far as I know, as long as the the water isn't running into a drain you shouldn't have any issues. And as was said, don't piss of the neighbors.

I think the only laws regarding this is the amount of time you run the water, which shouldnt be too long if your washing with a sponge and pale and then just rinse off after.
