Best oil to use?

Im just wondering whats the best oil to use in my car... I'm a bit confused as ppl say different things,

Currently i use 5w-30 castrol syntec, but i want to switch over to Mobil 1

i heard that 0w-40 Mobil 1 is the best to use for a 2002 330ci, but i looked for the 0W and couldn't find it at Canadian Tire....

certain weights are better for certain temperatures. you want a thicker oil in the summer and a thinner one in the winter. check your owners manual for the proper weight for the temperature. as per brand, i've always used castrol but mobil 1 is good too.

You need a BMW LL-01 approved oil. castrol syntec is not.

Mobil 1 0W-40 is a great oil, and it's approved.

I get it at Partsource, but have to get it in the individual 1litre bottles as they dont sell the large containers where I am.

Thats weird, i really want to go with Mobil 1 for some reason just cause i used it in the past and liked the results!

I just never personally seen the 0W-40! that sucks that they dont make it in the bigger jugs!! i guess ill try a partsource somwhere around here. How many litre's exactly does it take?

Im going to buy extra just in case to use for topping up as well... these cars tend to burn a bit...

With the E46, it doesn't matter much which weight you use as long as it's LL-01 approved.

Castrol Syntec 0W-30 (has to be made in germany) is approved and is available at Walmart and CT

Mobil 1 0w40 can be found at ct and Partsource.

I think they do have the bigger jugs, just not the partsource by me.

you need 6.5 litres for an oil change.

I bought 8 litres individually of Mobil 1 0W-40 from Partsource.

That should do the trick, came up to 88$ got extra for topping up....

They also said they dont sell it in the big jugs.
