well. the guy still had to dip his hand in water to be super sure. I wonder why he wouldn't just go with his bare finger?

Its probably because its not perfect yet

To clarify, mechanism DAMAGED when the blade stops is $60, but whole set-up is probably much more..

^ yup.. Still, I understand the guy wet his hands. Most people who keep cutting wood have sawdust on their hands and they are dry, so therefore dry hands would be harder to detect, and the cut would be a bit deepeter until the machine stopped, dont think i lot of ppl would want to test THAT out lol

True, but still, a deep cut is better than loosing a finger! As soon as it hits blood, it would stop if it works as described. Also, the guy just put his finger against the side of the blade. I'd like to see him try it exactly like with the hotdog (ie, perpendicular to the teeth!). If I worked with saws all the time, I'd buy one for sure.

I think the device is based on conductivity.... the water might just be an extra layer of protection to make sure he's as conductive as possible... I bet with dry hands, it would work just the same, if not maybe just giving you a nick.

Pretty sweet device. They should put them in all table saws.
