Smoking e36

so i recently picked up a 93 325is ,so i was driving one day and it started smoking from behind the stairing colum so i got it home and its been sitting in the drive way since ,so today i finally got some motivation to bring it in the garade and take the dash out but couldnt find any burnt wires anywhere changed all the burnt fuses but yet no park and brake lights , any advise ?

My son had the same problem. All of the wires were cracked. We noticed smoke coming out of the dash. Checked all wires behind the dash all was fine. Pulled the wires in the trunk lid and there was the problem.
