Your best bet is the E36 M3 (S50/2) motor.
Pm Tom (euroguy) for good prices

/thread.

It won't be cheap, but it will be FAST. Any thing wrong with the 2.5? Have you considered forced induction?

I'd go S50/S52 or FI

s50/52... fi will cost more and if you do the s52/50 you can go fi for even more power a couple years later.

you should join the very exclusive S50B32 club.

why anyone would shove a big stinky chevy V8 into a BMW is beyond me. But then again, I don't understand alot of things americans do

Yay. Let's bash americans and their stinky engines.

The euro M3 motor is certainly a great swap, though not for everybody.

S50B32 is one expensive ass swap. I remember when I was looking around for one and the cheapest I found for the motor, 6spd tranny, wiring harness and pretty much everything you need was $7000. Add another $1000-$1500 for the swap and you soon realize that it would just be more worth it to pick up an S50 or S52 and go the forced induction route.

Doesn't FI end up costing 10k+ alone without the S52? and don't forget how a turbo'd engine responds to throttle as opposed to NA... From what I have read it is totally different. THere is lag for the turbo, etc.

Yup, LSX (prob a wet sump LS7) is what I'd do if I had an E36 track car.

And FI is more expensive than any engine swap, takes the right shop to do it right and it's unreliable (it's a system with many more components - highly strained at that - than a normal engine, so it's just in the odds).
