i used to read and play when i was younger, but like all stupid teenagers u ignore things, now im begenning from scratch again to reteach myself. Iam learning rock and some jazz styles right now. My cousin plays the guitar so we do some cover songs like RHCP, the police, tool, and foo fighters. What do you play crossfire?

The Mapex kits they had were nice and the hardware was more dynamic and cooler than other sets, but from experience pearl is the best bang for your buck no matter how much you spend on the kit.

Go Ludwig or go home

Kidding ... looks nice! No sense in spending a fortune until you get more serious. Then buy USED! My old set (now my practice set) is a Pearl Export that I bought used for $800 17 (!!!) years ago. Many gigs on that one, and it's still great. My new recording set is a used Ludwig maple kit that sounds fantastic, and I bought it for $900 a couple of years ago (no hardware). In fact, it's the exact kit that Pat used on Weezer's Pinkerton album, which happens to be one of my favourites as far as raw drum energy sounds (found out after I bought it). Good luck, and have fun! Join a band ... even just for fun, it makes the learning and getting better much quicker. And practice along with either recorded songs, or a click track ... nothing worse than a drummer who wanders in time
