Don't think it is replacing the e60.

I don't mind it. It's not conventional for BMW, but it is built with purpose in mind, and I really wouldn't mind being stuck in it for a distance travel.

Personally, I think the fact that it has a wheel base as long as the 7 lwb, calling it the 5-series GT is confusing. What does this this have in common with the 5 series?

I think the front end will be very similar to the next 5 series. I actually like the front end styling. The rear, I dunno.

please don't ban me, but i kinda think that it not only looks very impressive, but will probably be a car that consumers will be very happy with the functionality and convenience.

I mean, don't get me wrong, i'm 22 and i'd never every think for a second about wanting to buy one, but man, if I was middle aged, with a few kids. This car could serve to be quite useful. The added leg room... the twin hatch thing... it works... for me at least...

just take it with the right perspective... and no offense to anyone, but look at how many people have to sell their sports cars as soon as a little shitter is born, looking for the convenient alternative...

That their is a good example as to why my 12 year old+ E36 is probably the last BMW I'll ever own.

Just remember its a concept.. not a production model. Over the years at the detroit and some toronto autoshows there have been some messed up concepts from car companies. what i have learned about the industry and auto design is that very seldom does a concepts look go unchanged into production. They always take sertain key elements of design from the concept and incorperate them into a new production model.

My thoughts about it... i think overall the design dept might be heading the wrong way for a family mid-size (i think the 5 series is classed as mid size) i agree that it looks like the x6 just slammed.

one thing i have noticed about bmw over the years when it come to cars and design...

pre 90's function over form

90's fairly even with function and form

post 90's form over function

This is true for american cars, but for BMW, they almost always come out with a production version of their concepts. I can almost guarantee a production version of this car.

i love it... except the rims are hideous.

besides, who said this will be replacing the next gen 5 series? they're prolly gonna offer both. and i'd definitely get this over a normal 5 series. i would love the extra space
