dimming issue.

I am looking for a high output alternator for my 00 323i sedan since I have a heavy sound system and whenever the bass hits, the lights dim alot. Any suggestions?

get a capacitor for your system. They are pretty cheap these days.

sorry to mention but I already have a 2 farad hybrid capacitor but still have dimming. Plus the capacitor doesn't help stop dimming, it helps your amplifier push more power and have clearer bass.

thats funny it helped my dimming when I had system in my car long ago. When your amp draws power (use a volt meter) you will notice how much it pulls and from other end of the cap (if its properly charged .. many screw this part up) it should draw less power (usually you would see 12.0v to 14.4v and when it pulls it shouldnt go under 10 from battery side)

other option is getting a dry cell battery (you can recharge up to 400 times .. im sure there much better these days) for those days your battery might die .. they are also better for cars with systems.

As for alternators I haven't seen a car that had to put one in (maybe yours is about to die .. maybe you need a new belt cuz its slipping .. i dunno). When you go to dark nights shows or any bass comps you will find they have huge caps and amps (sometimes 2 batteries or more) but never a larger alternator.
