F to the U to the C to the K to the 25psi of compression

Well,

Engine in the 300$ 318 is toast, thinking it skipped the timing chain, ate 3 spark plugs and a valve.

So, I found an M50 non vanos.

Who knows what I need to swap it in. I know I need M30 mounts, 325ix master cylinder and harness and ecu.

It bolts to the 318 tranny I know that, but which clutch and flywheel do I use?

E30 singelmass and a 228mm clutch at least
no need for a 325ix master keep the stock one and use e36 motor mounts the excentric once

Are M30 mounts the same thing?

Do I need to get the flywheel shaved?

And what starter?

nope m30 and e36 are diff.

m20 flywheel you can use, no shaving needed

starter the m20 one you need

i have all off that for cheap

have u used an e36 mount before with a stock booster?

So if the engine is spaced up to clear the stock booster, wouldn't you have to space the trans mounts too? Seems like it would put a bit too much stress on the trans...?

Sucks sam! But hey you were gonna do a swap anyway right?

As for the swap to clear things out, I would highly suggest against trying to "shim" the motor to use the stock booster. And even if you do clear it you'll be F'ed on the other side because of minimal space to mount up the downpipes

Sam, use the E28 535i "hexgonal lookin" motor mounts for both sides.

No need to switch the engine mounting arms, unless you have a motor that was originally from a E34 then you need the E36 mounting arms.

I've used the G240 with the m50 and you will need to use the euro 323i Throwout bearing(cross-refernce it) and the back end of the m20 singlemass flywheel must be ground down to prevent it from hitting the oil pan. You could remove some material from the oil pan but its a good enough reason to get the flywheel lightened. Match the clutch set and starter to w/e flywheel you are using.

If you wanna be extra cheap, the m42 flywheel/clutch set/starter can be used too, not sure how long it'll last though.

Now get on r3v and do some reasearchin' there. Grrrrrr.

I really don't want to have to swap trannys. I don't mind making a tranny crossmember. It'll be a hell of a lot cheaper then finding a G240 tranny, and I know my tranny is mint.

If I use the G240 then I have to mix and match drive shafts don't I? Which is another plus if I use the 318 tranny, because as long as it's not moving back or forth I can keep the stock driveshaft.

So you're saying use the E36 mounting arms with E28 535i mounts?

If I use that, I could use the 318 tranny, convert it to a single mass M20 flywheel (like the m42 guys do) and then use a m20 starter. Then all I'd have to do it make a tranny cross member.

It's hard to find shit on r3v for the swap into the 91 318.
