Some e36 help for a noob?

Hey everyone,

I've been hanging around the e30 forum for a bit but have decided to expand my search... and the various people i have met have recommended to go for an e36 based on my needs..

i'm looking for a nice summer car for the wife to drive.. she's a big fan of the older bmw's that had the boxier look which is why i started with the e30's.

any advice on what to look for in terms of price/value?

i was told e30's need a lot of maintainence because it's an enthusiasts car.. and that the e36's are more luxury and drive and go..

anyone know the ballpark price range i should be looking for?

i'm thinking 318 or 325, ideally, white, leather interior (that's it really)

the e30's had a deathtrap car to avoid guide.. anything like that for e36's?

thanks
