ICE! Smacked curb and signpost. Help!
Yep, slid out on a curve and smacked the curb. My left rear wheel is pointing inwards a bit. Pretty scary actually, just driving along a sweeping curve in North Toronto and suddenly my car swapped ends.
I need a left rear control arm... anyone know of a junkyard around here (Toronto) for that kind of stuff?
Also, my left rear quarter panel is dented in, and the rear bumper is cracked (just on the very tip behind the rear wheel, damnnit!!)
So I need to source that too.
Has anyone replaced the rear trailing arm? Any tips?
I'll post in the want ads section too for the susp. parts.

Check out the section with sponsors, Eurostyle is your guy, he should have the lower control arm!
I once had the same thing happened to my e36, got the control arm from Eurostyle, did it myself. The only pita was the bolt that is by the diff, i had hard time getting it out, other then that, it is straight forward! Good luck

Your story is quite different from your post on Bimmerforums

...from Bf.c
"A friend borrowed my car, somehow smacked the edge of a curb in our Toronto -20C temps. My front of my left rear wheel is now pointing inwards, also about 20 degrees. Claiming a slippery curve.
There was a signpost involved, and the rear quarter is also involved. Heavily deformed Behind (!?) the rear wheel. Weird.
Anyways, anyone had this happen? Is it the rear trailing arm? I've had damn hard spins and curb hits in the past on other cars and never had a wheel bent like what he did to my car.
Also, what is it like to replace the rear quarter? I won't be doing it myself because I'm assuming it's a weld on panel.
Thanks for input... I just want to know what I'm walking into between buying parts and having work done. I might be able to do some of it myself."
So was it you, or your friend?

This was the third forum I posted in, I was getting tired to telling the story over and over. The end result is the same, apparently the car spun out. It doesn't matter to my suspension who was driving but does it to you Sherlock?! Jesus.
Ignoring the two useless posts by the manginas, Thanks to Tom (Euroguy) who got me the suspension and bumper. I'll let you guys know how things go. It's the cosmetic end of things that will be the most expensive.

Everything is going fine, suspension ic coming apart fine, but I'm stuck on the e-brake cable. The bentley manual is of little help. I have the rotor off, but am having issues on how to seperate the cable from the trailing arm, and the drum mechanism. Anyone have any tips?
Thanks

Don't pull it from there, its a pain. Try undoing the cable at the actual parking brake lever inside the car and just pull the cable out from the body underneath. After that you can try getting the other side out but i would say just screw it and get a new one.

Wow. alright, Might just do that. Problem is my "new" trailing arm has a vestigal piece of cable on it that will have to come off.
