Detroit has been chaste for the past few years. It's still no Tokyo, but there were some nice surprises:

LOL, thanks very much! Love the Detroit show! My camera is nothing special -- banged up Canon EOS 350D and two old utility lenses (Canon 18-55 and Sigma 28-70).

Chinese manufacturers BYD and Brilliance erected booths that blocked most of the entrance to the GM area. Signs were necessary:


GM plowed a fleet of vehicles through its first press conference. Blink and you'll miss 'em!




Despite cutbacks in swag and flash, some automakers continued to cater. Here is VW's breakfast offering:

Not a single Asian on the Brilliance branding:

Mitsubishi didn't show up, but their local dealers put together six cars and a desk. Somewhat sad:
