Sand blasted ellipsoids
So, I'm going to be pulling a set of ellipsoid projectors out of my old '88 325i and will be putting them in my Dad's 1992 E30 318i to get rid of the old sealed beams, but they're all sandblasted and don't look quite as good as they should. What options do I have? Can they be sanded and polished back to normal? Is there any place in the GTA that can do this kind of thing, like a windshield repair shop, or is there a way to do it myself?

I don't think you can do anything with the glass lenses. You can buy lens replacements.

Check my thread about this service at Eurostyle, it can be done, but its a lot harder on glass lights, and the results may not be as dramatic...

You have a diamond stone to cut glass?

You can try cleaning them with an agressive cleaner, dewax and then apply a clear coat to fill the pits. It worked well on my e39 fogs. YMMV.

Your E39 fogs are plastic, totally different ball game.

Ah, bummer. I was going to try it on my e30 lens anyway. What do you think would happen?

I'm pretty sure my were glass, and I can't figure out why the coating action from the clear coat wouldn't work on pitted plastic anyway, as long as it wasn't yellowed or foggy.
I have pics somewhere, I'll dig them up.
