low idling

hi everyone,

the past week or so i noticed my car has been idling very low (middle of 0 and 1) when stopped. In some cases it hesitates like it is about to turnoff if I leave it idling. It only happens when the car is cold. any idea whats up

thanks

If there is no CEL on, its hard to tell. Have a look at your spark plugs. Also you might have your valve cover gaskets leaking oil into your spark plug cavity. That's about all I know.

Get the car scanned, the code will give you an idea of whats wrong then go from there.

Is this for a V8 or the straight 6? If it is the straight 6 it maybe a vanos problem.

FYI.....I also idle in the middle of 0 and 1...though with no problems.
So your iddling RPM's might not be the problem.

Did you get any closer to diagnosing this problem?

The vanos problem in the I6 usually shows up as cold start idle problems that is hard to diagnose, these threads may help solve your problem.
