my main point is Tattoos do have a negative effect on your white collar work place If they are visible. I have a couple of friends who have tattoos and i dont look at them any different before they got them. but if an HR knew about their tattoos they would look at them in a negative perspective. im almost certain of the above.
but in your local mechanic shop noone really gives a shit if he is covered with tat's as long as he does a good job.
that same guy sending out a sales pitch really has to impress me before i make any sort of buisness with him.

Well you are entitled to you opinion. As I stated as well white collar is defintaly a players play ground. Tattoos that arent visible DONT effect the potential buyer/client if they dont konw about them so WHY would HR if they are a good HR professional NOT hire someone who has the necessary crudentials if they have tattos that are NOT visible to anyone!!???
That is NOT in todays hiring requirements. Same thing with earings ..... if the potential employee takes them OFF for work and is completely capable to sell and do their job to the best ability and produce....... THEN Y NOT HIRE THEM!????
So needless to say your opinion is yours even if it is very restricted adn limited.

Dont do it, trust me, the corporate world WILL discriminate against you and they will do it in a way were you wont even realize its happening.
Dont give "the man" any more reason to single you out.....lol
