Rack and pinion

hello guys,

Just wondering how much it'll cost for a new rack and pinion for an e36 m3.

My steering wheel gets so stiff at times and the control seems off. I put in some Lucas Oil rack n pinion repair and the stiffness goes away for a bit and then its back.

I need to get my wheels aligned as well, the guys at the shop tried to align it but said its not working for some reason. Could the rack and pinions be the reason to why alignment isnt working?

well i dont know about your alignment issues, but it sounds like your power steering pump could be going out? What year is your car and what makes you think its the rack and pinion just wondering?

My car is 1998, every time i put lucas oil rack and pinion repair fluid, the stiffness in the steering wheel goes away. Within 2days of driving the stiffness comes back again, it gets so stiff at times its hard to make turns. :S

For my alignment the guy said my car was involved in an accident and that's why they cant fix the alignment. The frame on my car isn't bent or anything, so i dont why the alignment cant be fixed. I put in new control arms, bushing, and tie rods as well.
