Castrol Syntec on sale - any good?

Canadian Tire currently has Castrol Syntec 4.4L jugs on sale for about $18 each with coupon. However, they don't have the German 0w30 in the large jugs - they only have 5w30 (which is not BMW LL-01 certified) and 5w40 (which is also not BMW LL-01, but is BMW LL-98 certified). Are either of these okay to use in an E46?

I dont know why BMW oil caps say "Castrol Recommended by BMW"

I personally dont like castrol, Liqui Moly / Lubro Moly or Motul are the brand's I've been using.

I never used the high end oils from Castrol, I have used their regular GTX oil in the past and it always turned black fast, seemed like it was always leaking and sweating around the valve cover gaskets in all my cars. Switched to Valvoline Maxlife for my older cars.

maybe its just my personal experience with the cheap GTX oil turned me away from that brand ...

+100 on Lubromoly... That thing is like vitamins for my ride, it loves it.

I find that when i used to use castrol syntec it would break down a lot faster than the Lubromoly, even before i hit 5k my indicarot lights would say it's time for an oil change.
