You can grab a Haynes manual from crappy tire.
You can find manuals online, or download them.
Look for the pedal test. It will give you a code, but you need the codes anyways to understand. Look at e30tech.com, they have a sticky thread for manuals.
There should be lots of guys in your area though. Not many will work for free. Load your beer fridge and more should stop by though.

Look in the owners manual if you have one. All the fuses are labeled in there. If its the same for a 325i then i can check for you later. Most likely cause of you popping fuse 23 is probably because of a short somewhere.

Headlight switch(the On/Off not the Hi/Lo).
From Fuse 23, power into switch - then splits to power head lights, fog lights, and parking lights(red and yellow corners too)
Do ALL of your lights work when you turn them on?
Put in a new fuse and Pull on your lights. Check the Fuse. It will be F#$Ked.
You have a short somewhere. Get a meter out and start at each light connector. Pull the connector off and check for shorts(continuity) between each terminal. Make sure the Knob is pushed in when you test this. If you find a short, keep looking, there might be more than one, or you might be seeing the same short on 2 different connectors.
Do this, get beck to us.
