I'm #4010, it's the same idea with them wanting to put radar cameras on the highways. I am not going to be a part of a surveillanced society. It's another small right that they take away, and another, and another. Then who knows, We don't have any rights at all, and there's no need for detectives/police. We have a microchip in our drivers licence so they know where we are at all times? Oh wait, shit, don't they already have that? Hmm, next they chip us all forcibly?
Go to youtube and type in Zeitgeist, or federal reserve......ignore the part about religion on it though, most of it is bull.
And spare me the "conspiracy shit"

Maybe they should make the 'driving in the passing lane' law harsher.

One more thing, soon trucks won't be able to past 105 so if your going 150 ur 45+ them within a couple feet of them. Now normally a 45km difffrence is no big deal but if somone swerves that can easily become fatal especially if there is no room or ability to recover.
Trucks in Germany are also limited to around 100kph - I forget the exact speed. Lane discipline is crucial. I drove at around 200-240kph on unrestricted portions of the autobahn with trucks doing about 100kph. It was not an issue.

Driving is a privelege, not a RIGHT. Putting radar cameras would not take away from any of your rights, nor would regular surveilance cameras on the city streets (only people that would be against that are people commiting crimes). The problem with camera's or with these kinds of rules/laws is the bullshit reasons they come up for justifying them and trying to make it seem like its NOT for revenue purposes! Stating that radar cameras are put at lights or on highways for safety is pure bullshit. Someone who could afford the tickets would have no problem speeding if all that was required was a fine. It wouldn't prevent speeding, same with this street racing law. They make the fines sky high, and they're handing out these tickets like condoms in a high school. It's obvious they're just trying to make money.

If safety was such an issue and they ALREADY govern cars to certain speeds (NA BMW's are governed at 215km/h, WHY?) then why not just govern them to say, 130km/h. Since thats still 30km MORE than the speed on any road in Ontario, and pass the speed imit in other provinces as well.

I hate Canada, we're like a shittier/smaller US!

People should give up on rights... just realize there is nothing you can do and that cops and governments have all the power. Think about it. This is how it's always been, for centuries and centuries. What makes the 21st century any better??

This is such a stupid law because is doesn't matter who you are, if you're going 50km/h over the posted speed limit your car will be confiscated, license will be suspended, you'll have to pay a maximum fine of $10,000, and charged for "racing". I don't know if you've heard of the Autobahn but it's a famous highway located in Germany that 1/3 of German's use everyday. There are no speed limits on %55 of the Autobahn and still today it's considered to be one of the safest highways in the world. You have a three times greater chance of dying on our 400 series highways than you do on the German Autobahn with people going at least double the speed, and lets not forget that Germany has about three times the population of Canada. It costs approximately 3,000-5,000 euros just to get a driver's license in Germany and takes about one year to complete. They properly teach you how to drive by actually letting you take the car to it's potential in every weather condition, so you can feel comfortable and react logical in unsafe scenarios. I take this subject very personnel because it's my life that's on the line everyday i go to work, i feel our government is just finding way's to make money out of the problem instead of trying to solve the problem. It's just getting worse everyday i drive. WE NEED TO EDUCATE CANADIAN DRIVER'S! Since the new “street racing” law death rates have just gone up in Ontario, so obviously this law isn’t helping.

Vote out Mcguinty yes, I agree. He's a big pile of douchbaggery.

But Harper? Who are you gonna put in his place? The only alternatives are farther left socialists that will impose more government regulations and bans. Thats the last thing we need. We want less government not more! Not to mention these laws have nothing to do with the federal government.

If it was up to the Liberals and NDP we would all be forced to drive bicycles, and they'd probably tax the air we breathe while driving them.
