I'm in the same boat, and leaning towards Royal Purple Synchromax, just make sure you get the correct grade for your use.

I decided not to risk it and got a 5L jug of BMW LTF2 from the dealer, there doesn't appear to be correct match elsewhere as far as viscosity and other things. (there are discussions on bunch of "oil" forums about it)
If bunch of you are looking to swap transmission fluid, maybe 2-3 people can split a jug (it is like ($150). it is is nice synthetic lube and ticks all the boxes, it is just very expensive.

Why do you say that? What was wrong with it?
I'm running RP syncromax and have had no issues.

not the case for me, one of the cars hadn't had tranny fluid change for years, sure it did make a difference on that, but I think any oil would've done the same. I decided to do it on the other car which had fresh oem fluid in it to compare and it made it worse, much worse! made the gears "sticky", shifts harder you can actually feel the friction. Downshifts are worse too, it grinds sometimes during aggressive downshifts, and this stuff is advertised racing quality not worth the $$ imo..

hmmm interesting. I changed from OEM fluid that had been in there for years, and it definitely made it better. But maybe it would have been the same if I had just put in new OEM fluid. Maybe on my next change I'll try putting OEM stuff in and see if there is a change.
