Leave bumpers black or paint?

Here's my car as it stands now. I'm getting some paintwork done and could get the bumpers painted. However, I don't think I'm huge fan of the silver bumpers on a silver car. I've never seen anyone with the black bumper scheme that I have now and think its unique? Really, I'm just looking for peeps to tell me my black bumpers don't look entirely stupid, and I'll keep them black.

I'm getting two new fenders, reiger lower lip, sideskirts, eyelids, new (old) trunk lid w/ mtech II and kidneys painted silver at the local bmw shop. I may or may not use all of the pieces, but I want to see what I like / don't like on the car. I already have all the parts.

Silver with painted trim looks a little more classy. Silver with silver trim looks wrong on a e30 IMO, it needs contrast. Black bumpers still works, it looks more purposeful but the silver bumpers with black trim would be my choice.

I say paint the bumpers but not the trim. You should paint the door handles while you're at it

The car's not going in, just the pieces. Can I pull the handles off the car easily?

The handles are easy to take off, just lift them up and take a peek.

Paint the Bumpers and Moldings, and e30 needs to be clean.

don't paint it. just restore the trims. there is nothing sexier that black trims.

if you paint it silver, its gonna look messy and ugly

"Then it looks like the whole car fell in a paint can. " LOL totally true.

I think I'll go with silver bumpers, black trim (either repaint all trim black, or new, in which case I'd go euro) and silver handles.

I'm beginning the stripping process tomorrow, and fitting the side skirts which will need a little work before they're ready for paint. Bumper should come off easy. I'll pull off the old fenders too and make sure the new ones don't need massive trimming to fit before paint, plus to look for rust under the fenders.

Hopefully the whole kaboodle can go in for paint next week sometime.

BTW azn, what happened to your e30?

This is an example of a clean e30, from this thread no less. It looks like this pic was taken in the late 80s early 90s, thats how clean the car looks. The painted bumper and moldings has a lot to do with this.

I agree that contrast looks good on many cars, but not for the e30. If the OP does not want to paint his moldings then fine, but the bumpers need to be painted. I think if you have an e30 and care about it, I dont mean using it as a beater...you need to make it look as good as possible. I plan on buying an e30 vert as my weekend car.

Ya but slowereds car has an mtech 2 kit, with the side panels, so of course those are going to be body color.

With stock body moldings when they are painted it looks funny.

Not sure bro. All that I know is that it doesn't shift anymore, and I sure as hell did not kill a new clutch in 30k. I am gonna yank the transmission out this morning and take a looksee.

No actually that picture was taken in the mid 2000s. Don't believe me? I am pretty sure they didn't have 17" rims as the norm back then. And that car doesn't have painted trim either, its a totally different body package. I think you should look a bit more closely next time before speaking. I've been in this BMW game for a lot longer than you n00bie, I think I know whats cool and whats not.

Back in the day 14's were the norm. Hell ya, I still rock them! LOL

My picture is a total photoshop job, Miami background, blacked out windows, lighting and reflections are all off.

BTW why do you care about Sneaky's opinion so much?
