stay with 17" rims or go with 18"
I currently have pilot sport 17" all season tires, and I think there's still enough tread left, maybe one more season. Should I go with getting new 17" rims or should I upgrade to 18" rims and all season tires? I drive a 330i (2001) and I'm thinking of going with 225/45R18 tires and rims?

if your all seasons are worn out, keep the 17 inch rims (buy winters for next season) and buy 18's/19's for the summer

I had the same dilemma last year. I picked 18's and I'm pretty happy with them. They do look a little small because of the dish but they perform much better in my opinion. That being said, I wouldn't mind to eventually upgrade to 19's only when I get the opportunity to get light ones.

I have 225/50/17 on my 530i now with all season and can't make up my mind if I should get 17's or staggered 18's for the summer. Too many options!!!

225/45 is the 17" sport package size. On an 18" wheel, these will be too tall.

I disagree. Diferent cars, required for a different size.
