If you do your own tire swap, get this!

So after 10 years of swapping winters and summers and just changing for track days, I finally broke down and picked up an electric impact gun.

I'd been waiting because I figured I'd pick up an air compressor one day but I've been procrastinating for the last 2 years always waiting for that killer deal...

What normally takes an hour, took me just over 30 minutes yesterday. Geez...

This should be the first tool you invest in when going racing. Also a spare batterie is a good idea.

I had a IR 244 impact gun, a CH gun. But after all those year, I love the old breaker bar.

Simplicity works. Batteries lose their charge over the years.

The proper way to do it is use the breaker bar or torque wrench to crack the lug lose, then throw the gun/socket on there and zap it off quick time. If you just throw the gun on the torqued lug, it might not be stong enough to crack it or if it is then it really wears down the battery fast.

I use the gun to snap the bolts off and still use a torque wrench for final tightening. Last thing I need is to snap a bolt or risk warped rotors from the over/uneven tightening.

The one I bought came with 2 batteries and a one hour charger. I was going in to buy the corded one but the cordless one was on sale and with the sockets, it was the same price as the corded one. I'm sceptical about the cordless and the battery life but it comes with a 2 year warranty on the batteries which is good enough for me.

I'm still in disbelief at how quick it was. Usually after doing tires on 2 cars, I'm beat.
