Battery Light on

Alright so coming back from bimmercruise this year, my drive belt snaped, on the highway. After that i bough a new belt and put it on, after driving around for a bit i noticed the battery light kept turning on and off every once in a while. Then i did a engine swap, and now the battery light is still on. What could be causing it lol

did you re-use the old alternator ? that could be your culprit, or a loose battery/alternator connection, try checking those spots first

yes i did use the old alternator lol, cuz i wasnt sure if the one of the newer motor worked. And no its not cus the battery could use a charge, i had batteries die on me before and the light didnt come on.

Whats the batt voltage with the car running? It should be around 13.5-14.5 Volts.

its your voltage regulator. 2 screws on the back of your alternator, 40$ at the dealer. If you know how to take your alternator out, you can do it yourself.

looks like a battery. its red, by the oil light.

When you rev your motor, does the light get dimmer?

if so, definately voltage regulator.

yes it gets dimmer, how do i fix the voltage regulator, like what screw u talkin about, I ended up throwing in the other alternator that i had from the motor i swaped in, it looks horrible didnt even think it would work, but it works no battery light, but if its just 2 screw like you are saying then i would like to throw the old one back in it looks alot cleaner.

P.s i know how to change the alternator i did the engine swap myself, its my greatest accomplishment so far

i got a alt right now that works, that came one the 94 engine, but the whole plastic housing crap on the back off it is broken to shit so i took it off completely, and the one on my shot alt doesnt seem to fit on it. 92 alt was made in new Britain i think and the 94 one was made in France and they are different brands 92 is bosh 94 is V something lol
