i dont think the picture was in black and white!
I think they look different because they do not have the light bulbs in them , they are not blaced on the car and finnaly because they seem to have clear laquer on them so they look glosier!

im pretty sure that the ones in the first pic are produced.i saw those tailights on a silver e30 the other day while on my lunch break. they looked tight, but im pretty sure they would've looked better on my black e30.

bmw doesnt used colored bulbs to produce different light...they use colored lenses....(atlease for the e30's).....
