help with m3 rims fitting
i have a 1994 bmw 325is. the car is lowered on eibach sportline spring and bilstein shocks. i just put a set of contours on it and in the back they rub a little. what should i do. get a smaller tire? get the rear fenders rolled? or any other suggestions?

What size tire? I've got 245/45/17 and it rubs a bit. When the time comes to replace, I'll be going with a 245/40/17. Hopefully the lower sidewall will be fine.
I've considered rolling the fenders as well but it seems a little drastic since I know the tire I'm using is too tall.

iirc, the tire size guidelines are on a label in the B pillar....
...i wouldn't mind staggered contours myself as long as they don't rub. perhaps even 235 40 17 or would that be too small?

my brother has a 99 328is, slightly lowered, we first tried his contours 245/45/17 and they rubbed, so we figured my 235/45/17 other m3 oem rims (i forgot what they are called..the 2nd nicest ones) and they still rubbed!!
choices choices choices..lower your car make it look so much better, but you cant put the nice rims on without rolling or weird sized tires
in my opinion 245/45/17 are one of the best tires for rear
how much u pay for rolling?

That's because 235/45/17 is oversized, and 245/45/17 is OVERSIZED.
225/45/17, 235/40/17, and 245/40/17 were the factory sizes. All 25.0" or smaller in diameter. The 245/45/17 you like is over half an inch bigger (which is huge).

Jay: You running 225/45/17 in the front and 245/40/17 in the rear on those staggered contours w/o rolling fenders/quarters on your yellow m3? If so, that's the route I want to go with my next set.

Oversized means height(diameter) or rolling circumfrance. He mentioned stock is 25'' diameter, and that what your running is over half an inch bigger. Which would be around 25.5'', google a tire size calculator and you will see.
Buy tires with a similar diameter to stock and you won't have rubbing issues, unless ofcourse you go too wide. Choose one of the 3 sizes that can stock.

I'm running non-staggered Contours, with 235/40/17s all around. This is the setup my M3 came with from the factory (well with DS1's), and is in my opinion the best way to do it. My car already understeers, I'd hate to know what it would do with skinnier front tires and wider rears.
But beyond that, 245/40/17 on the rear of an E36 using stock 17x8.5" ET41 rear wheels probably shouldn't rub, unless the car is lowered with a soft suspension or something.

I've got this setup with no issues:
FRONT: 225/45/17 on 8" wheels
REAR: 245/40/17 on 9" wheels
ASA AR1
SUSPENSION:
Bilstein Sport & H&R Sport
